Sharing a street with two brothels, two synagogues and former Eurovision winner Dana International, is just part of life on Bograshov Street, Tel Aviv.
Stroll along this stretch of asphalt running from the central hum of the city towards the white sand of the Mediterranean and you will encounter a street that houses hookers, rabbis, soldiers, straights, gays, transsexuals and everything else in between. But this is not unique. This is Tel Aviv.

Tredje hetaste staden 2011

Lonely Planet har valt Tel Aviv till världens tredje hetaste stad 2011 (efter New York och Tanger) med denna motivering:

Tel Aviv is the total flipside of Jerusalem, a modern Sin City on the sea rather than an ancient Holy City on a hill. Hedonism is the one religion that unites its inhabitants. There are more bars than synagogues, God is a DJ and everyone’s body is a temple. Yet, scratch underneath the surface and Tel Aviv, or TLV, reveals itself as a truly diverse 21st-century Mediterranean hub. By far the most international city in Israel, Tel Aviv is also home to a large gay community, a kind of San Francisco in the Middle East. Thanks to its university and museums, it is also the greenhouse for Israel’s growing art, film and music scenes.

Jag skulle kunna starta en Facebook-grupp med titeln ”Vi som säger ’men-herrrrre-gud'” när vi ser en tiopoängare.
Apropå den där Gud så spelar han/hon/den/det mig ett fett spratt just nu.
Bara jag går från jobbet och ut på lunch så, när jag är på väg tillbaka, så möter jag bakom husknuten en man som får mig att tappa hakan (och utbrista just den där potentiella Facebook-raden). Ni vet… när man ser någon som är 100% ens våta fantasi.

Det har gått för lång tid sedan den där svettiga natten med ”Shimon från Jerusalem” i Tel Aviv.
Den där natten då jag skulle sova hos mitt ex (vilket ledde till drama mellan honom och hans nuvarande) och han ringde mig klockan fem på morgonen och undrade var jag höll hus. ”Jag är hos Shimon.”
”Jaha.”
Ah, livet är smärtsamt!

Fab gay TLV

Stepping up to compete with top-destination cities around the world, Tel Aviv is reaching out to the international gay and lesbian community.
The Tel Aviv Tourism Association on Tuesday night kicked off a six-month outreach campaign labeled “Tel Aviv Gay Vibe,” hoping to introduce gay communities around the world to Israel’s “city that never sleeps.”
