Today’s post: in English. (Because I posted this on Facebook and I’m too lazy to translate it, because of this horrible heat wave.)
Good morning this beautiful first day of August.
I couldn’t sleep, because of the ongoing heat wave (yes, it happens here in Finland too, and we don’t have AC), so at 4 am I gave up and went for a walk. (It’s lovely out there, when it’s all calm and quiet.)
A song started playing in my head and I began thinking about one of those lovely nights in my surprisingly eventful life.
25 years ago (in November) I went to the MTV Europe Music Awards in Stockholm, and what a fabulous night it was.
Madonna was the queen of the night performing ”Music”, and she got a bit tipsy between her performance and picking up her awards a bit later on. Kinda cute. She was wearing the famous Kylie Minogue t-shirt.
And then came my Kylie. Unfortunately she performed the horrible song ”Kids” together with Robbie Williams.
And Spice Girls performed the underestimated song ”Holler” (that I love).
Other performers included: U2, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, All Saints, Moby, Ronan Keating, Backstreet Boys, and Bomfunk MC’s.
The host was Wyclef Jean (is he still alive?).
Other appearences: Ali G (he’s so hot, as himself – Sacha Baron Cohen), Anastacia, Aqua, Sonique, Savage Garden, Dolce & Gabbana, The Cardigans etc. etc.
And some personal anecdotes:
I went there with my then BF. We were together for two years and then I had to leave him, because he became too controlling and jealous, and I wasn’t allowed to meet my friends and yada yada, you know the type.
I’ve always been a free bird, spreading my beautiful wings as I please. (I wonder how he’s doing. I haven’t seen him for 24 years. Maybe I should write him a letter? We had so much fun – at least in the beginning.)
However, we had a wonderful night. I had to leave work early that day, because a make-up artist came to make us look smashing, and smashing we looked.
So I came home from my walk this morning and, because I save EVERYTHING, I took out my memorabilia box, and look what I found.
